University Student Ministry
The Unity of the Brethren sponsors a ministry to college, university,
and community college students with Unity of the Brethren connections.
The Student ministry maintains contact with over 100 students across the
state of Texas. During the school year, monthly "Meet-n-Eat" gatherings
take place at College Station (for students at Texas A&M and Blinn),
Austin (for students at UT and Texas State and other area schools), Temple
(for students at Temple College, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and
Central Texas College), and Waco (for students of Baylor, McClennan County
College, and Texas State Technical College). At these gatherings,
students get a meal and time to visit with Ministry Volunteers, including
pastors and lay persons. Depending on student interest, Bible Study
opportunities will be offered. Another student fellowship is forming
in San Angelo for students at Angelo State.
This ministry is eager to have contact information about students
from Unity of the Brethren congregations and relatives of Brethren church
members. Please include Name, School, Congregation (home church or
the church of the suggesting person), email address, postal address, phone
number, etc. As we gather more information and as there are sufficient
numbers and interest, other gatherings can be organized in other areas
of the state. The list of names and schools is published yearly as
a prayer guide for intercessors who wish to support and encourage students.
For information about the fellowship at Angelo State, contact
Rev. Tommy Tallas, pastor of the Wall
Brethren Church. For all other areas of the state, contact Dr.
Mark Labaj, pastor of Temple Brethren Church.
